By submitting projects or materials to the Manitoba Association of AI Professionals, you agree to the following terms:

  1. Eligibility: Submissions are only accepted from individuals older than 18 years old or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence unless otherwise agreed to by the MAAIP Association and appropriate parental/guardian consents have been obtained.
  2. Original Work: All submitted projects and materials must be your original creations. It is your responsibility to ensure that your submissions do not infringe on any copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.
  3. Copyright Responsibility:
    • The materials displayed, performed, or available through the competition, including text, graphics, data, articles, photos, images, illustrations, and User Submissions (collectively, the “Content”), are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
    • You promise to abide by all copyright notices, trademark rules, and information or restrictions contained in any Content you access through the competition.
    • You agree not to use, copy, reproduce, modify, translate, publish, broadcast, transmit, distribute, perform, upload, display, license, sell, or otherwise exploit for any purpose any Content not owned by you:
      • Without the prior consent of the owner of that Content, or
      • In a way that violates someone else’s rights.
    • The MAAIP Association is not responsible for copyright violations or intellectual property disputes arising from your submissions. Any legal consequences resulting from such violations will be the submitter’s sole responsibility.
  4. Confidentiality: The MAAIP Association respects your intellectual property and will not share, publish, or distribute your submitted projects or materials without your explicit written consent. 
  5. Submission Rights: By submitting your materials, you confirm that you have the necessary rights and permissions to share the content with the MAAIP Association.
  6. No Award: The MAAIP Association does not offer any monetary awards for participation in or completion of the competition. Participation is voluntary and for professional or personal development purposes only.
  7. Advertising and Promotion: By participating, you agree that the MAAIP Association and its affiliates may use your name and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law.
  8. Ethical Use: Projects and materials must not contain offensive, discriminatory, or harmful content. Submissions that violate ethical or legal standards will be rejected.
  9. Verification and Disqualification: The MAAIP Association reserves the right to verify eligibility and to adjudicate on any dispute at any time. If you provide any false information relating to the competition concerning your identity, residency, mailing address, telephone number, email address, ownership of rights, or any information required for entering the competition, you may be immediately disqualified.
  10. Disclaimer Updates: The MAAIP Association reserves the right to update this disclaimer as needed. It is your responsibility to review these terms regularly.
  11. Privacy:
    • a. You acknowledge and agree that the MAAIP Association may collect, store, share, and otherwise use personally identifiable information provided by you during the submission process and participation in the competition. This includes, but is not limited to, your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address (“Personal Information”).
    • b. As part of the competition, the MAAIP Association agrees to comply with all applicable data protection obligations regarding your Personal Information.
    • C. I acknowledge and agree that if my project is selected, it may be displayed at the Innovation Showcase. Furthermore, I grant permission for the project to be featured, along with appropriate accreditation, in social media posts, on the organization’s website, and in other promotional materials.
  12. Right to Cancel, Modify, or Disqualify:
    • If for any reason the competition is not capable of running as planned the MAAIP Association reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the competition.
  13. Jurisdiction: This disclaimer and all related activities are governed by the laws of Manitoba, Canada.
