2025 MB AI Innovation Showcase

The first MB AI Innovation Showcase took place in Winnipeg on 25 February 2025. It was a night of finalist demos, a Google Gemini 2.0 session, and three awards — a year before the sold-out 2026 edition at RRC Polytech.

The program opened with Manitoba AI projects: teams with original work that uses or impacts artificial intelligence, competing on innovation, relevance, and execution.

Google Presented Gemini 2.0

Google’s Gemini 2.0 session covered a multimodal model that works with text, images, audio, and video, including native image and audio generation and the Multimodal Live API. The talk placed Gemini 2.0 in Google’s product ecosystem, including Search, Workspace, and developer tools.

AI Innovation Award

Awarded to Shane Barakat , Palkia AI

Google selected and awarded a prize for the most innovative project. Palkia AI offers AI-powered bug reports; intelligently integrated with your codebase.

Leadership in AI Award

Awarded to John Barbosa , U-Pro Soccer

The Manitoba Association of AI Professionals selected and awarded a prize for the project that most exemplifies professional leadership in AI. U-Pro Soccer is an AI-driven, gamified training platform that uses computer vision and biomechanics to transform any home into a world-class soccer academy.

Audience Choice Award

Awarded to Adam Fainman , Moonlite Labs

The audience voted for their favorite AI project. Moonlite Labs is an AI-powered platform that enables musical artists and content creators to generate high-quality, music-reactive visuals in minutes.
